Libby Sherrill works as an independent writer, producer, editor, and event organizer with over nine years of professional experience in the national cable market. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee in Journalism and Electronic Media, with a special emphasis in Information Science.

Libby also specializes in media management, co-organizes The Marble City 10 Hour Film Festival in Knoxville, and is currently producing an independent documentary about pit bull type dogs and breed discrimination.

Under Libby’s management, Cover Y'all offers services including research, conception, pre-production planning, location scouting, shooting, interviewing, writing, editing and delivering video content in formats compatible with both TV and web standards. My skill set is unique in that I am knowledgeable in the area of information science and asset management and video production. This balanced combination of producer and information science skills, allows me to create original, creative and strategically appropriate content while simultaneously managing all elements of the project with efficiency.

Before producing, I was a Media Services Coordinator at Scripps Networks and provided media based services to over 600 Scripps. There, I managed digital and print records and all related materials for HGTV programming and all aspects of the Media Center’s videotape stock inventory.

As a Producer for HGTV Creative Services I was responsible for conceptualizing, writing, producing, and managing all aspects of production for promotional videos for HGTV, HGTV HD and other linear platforms like Video On Demand, as well as various special projects as requested by the programming, ad sales and affiliate marketing departments.

Beyond my role as producer, I also scheduled and managed an inventory of over 200 promotional television spots for HGTV HD by using and managing asset entry into several electronic databases. I also directed workflow of promotional scheduling, and supervised and trained staff performing scheduling duties.

Most recently, I have taken on the role of independent documentary filmmaker. I conceptualized the concept of my current project while in graduate school and have performed the role of producer, writer, director, interviewer, videographer, editor, and researcher.

I am adept at both MAC and PC, with application proficiencies in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and many other databases.

I am knowledgeable of Internet search engines, email programs, digital cameras, editing equipment, software, and video/audio assignment requirements for TV, Internet and mobile devices.

I exhibit quick absorption of database functionality due extensive exposure to various programs throughout my career. I have a strong sense of ownership to my projects and can change gears quickly while maintaining a high level of organization.

I’m energetic, honest, collaborative and downright hard working, and I love to laugh and learn new things.
